My name is Lindsay, and I challenge myself to complete at least one adventure every week.
I know, I know. Adventure, as a word, is overused AF. And what does it even mean anyway?
I define adventure as an extraordinary experience, something new and unusual, the more challenging the better. In fact, the more something terrifies me, the more I know I need to make myself do it.
To be clear, I’m not some fearless expeditioner or adrenaline junkie. Not even close. I grew up in your average American suburb. I come from a somewhat “normal” family. I work a full-time job that often stresses me out to the point where I find myself sobbing into a pint of ice cream at 3am, questioning all of my life decisions.
I’m just an ordinary person, afraid of living my life on autopilot and missing out on the best this world has to offer. I mean, I’m genuinely terrified.
So I push myself to try crazy things. And then I write about it here. And then I hope that you, as readers, find nuggets of inspiration to seek more out of your own life and yourself. And then we can all be better, bolder, and more interesting people, living the lives we imagined as kids.
Or at least, that’s the goal. If you’re just here to look at pretty pictures, that’s fine too.
The Evolution of An Adventure A Week
I started this blog in 2013 as a personal experiment – I wanted to see what would happen if I committed to doing one thing a week that scared me.
At that point, I was 27 and working 60+ hours a week as a reality TV producer, but I needed something to strive for outside of the career I’d thrown myself into for the past 6 years. I didn’t want to believe that travel bloggers and full-time adventurers were the only people out there really living, doing crazy cool adventurous stuff. I wanted that life for myself, and this was my chance to make that happen.
Turns out, a lot can happen when you start making a habit out of adventure. You meet fascinating people. You learn amazing things about yourself and the world. You notice opportunities you didn’t see before. You start wondering if doing the same thing day in and day out is the best option, or even healthy for you.
When I turned 30, I sold most of my possessions, put my career in TV on hold, and set out to look for adventure on a full-time basis. Almost a year later, I returned to the states, to my job, and to my life, with a completely new view of the universe.
Now I split my time between working on super fun TV shows and traveling the world. As soon as I feel too comfortable, I know its time to push myself into the unknown again.
I don’t have it all figured out. There are still plenty of things that scare me. But if there is one thing this experiment has taught me, it’s that we, as humans, are capable of far more than we think we are. And it’s worth pushing our limits to find out just what we can do.

Thank you for checking out my blog!
I love your idea of doing something unexpected and out of the ordinary every week. You learn a lot about yourself when you leave the safety of your comfort zone.

Hi Lindsay!
Thanks for the follow and for checking out my blog.
I think an adventure a week is a great idea! It is good to see younger people doing fun and interesting things with their lives that involve the lost art of travel.
Good luck on your adventures!
Shawn

Hey Lindsay,
I bumped into your blog while searching for info for my next trip and I must say I JUST FUCKIG LOVE IT! Can´t stop reading it 🙂 You put into words feelings and thoughts that I have but was not able to organize in my head. And not only that: to put into practice! Just feel like I could have written all of this, except a lot less clearly and beautifully :p You have shaked things a little bit for me, so thanks for this! Your blog is a great reminder that life is much more than worldly success.
Juliana, thank you so much! I’m so glad you like it…..great minds think alike 🙂 Hope you’re having a kick-ass day, wherever you are.
